Before the trip, the water was perfectly calm at the cabin:
My version of the classic picture from the area:
4" of rain the days before produced massive rapids along with fool hardy boys going down them in a kayak.
The trek we took is shown on this map:

Sun, then cloud cover, then sun... but some great pictures.
First, we have a pretty good sunrise but then it clouded over. This is from my cousin's peer looking across the lake they are on.
We took a road trip. Came across many beautiful places. This is just inside of Wisconsin.
At the same stop, a simple still life:
My cousin's cable (with the big noise of my truck poking in the bottom left. This is after the sun came back out.
I'm just super happy with these.

Moving further north
I've had some requests for pictures with me. Here is a picture at my cousin's place. Notice there is not much color in the trees in the background.
While going north to my other cousin's place, I came across this. These pictures are "geotagged" and I want to have links to google maps but I haven't learned how to do that yet. So, for know, just think of northern Wisconsin and you'll be pretty close to where this was taken.
I got to Peg and Steve's cabin and Peg took me to some water falls close by. In roughly 150 miles further north, notice how much more color there is. It is not quite peak yet so I think I got here right on time.

Blah Morning Sep. 21st, 2010
Woke to rain. I'm still in Eau Claire, WI with my cousin. I'll take this opportunity to tell ya about all the gunk I packed. Two camera systems, camping gear, clothes, bath stuff, and other small items. I have boring pictures of my truck packed to the gills which I'll share some other blah morning.

Rain followed me...
At my cousin's in Eau Claire, WI. Woke to rain. Found a nice water fall but not a very interesting shot.
Rainy morning of the 19th.
This will be my home sweet home for the next month (most of the time). This is about an hour north of Des Moines, Iowa.

Purpose
I call this blog "Whalter and Me". Who is Whalter? Well, the correct question "Where is my alter ego?" To be honest, I don't really know what an alter ego is. Wikipedia doesn't really offer much help. But I feel that I'm more than what is on the surface and this blog is my quest to find the other parts of me.
As part of that quest, I'm currently on a month long trip to the upper peninsula of Michigan. I plan to post updates here. My plans are slightly behind schedule because I had hoped to have a few posts by now. Oh well.
Stay tuned for updates.
