Historic Gruene Texas

I'm staying at my son's currently in New Braunfels.  It is just down the road from historic Gruene Texas.  These are just a few of the photos.  Most of HDR and one is a stack to get the depth of field I wanted.

Enjoy!

Bighorn Canyon

My brother and I took off from his cabin in MT on the 29th and didn't really see much.  It was raining a lot.  We got to Lovell, WI and stayed in a flee bag hotel.  Woke up early the next day, the 30th, and drove to Bighorn Canyon which is back in MT.  These are my five best photos of the canyon.

Faust Street Bridge

I got back to my son's place in New Braunfels November 2nd but then got COVID for I've been mending the past few weeks. I have lots to share with the trip back south but for now, this is a project that I've sorta worked on the past few days. Hope you enjoy it.

Moose, Stars, and Geese

Sep. 22

Almost every morning is spectacular here. This is an HDR image from this morning.

Sep. 20

This is 265 frames of a moonrise. Each frame is a HDR merge of three images taken at f-stop offsets of -1, 0, and -1. Live and learn. There are several things I would do different but it is still neat to watch

Sep. 19

We've been cleaning the garage and other chores before winter comes.  But today I took some time and capture some geese arguing amongst themselves.  I find this really cute.  No great art here but it's fun to me.

We also saw a moose nearby:

National Bison Range

We started off from my brother's place near Kila, MT, went and had breakfast at Sykes Diner:

We took the path towards Hot Springs by turning right at Elmo, MT.  Just a little ways outside we found a flock of Big Horn Sheep:

The National Bison Range was a bit of a disappointment.  We saw a few bison up close but the herd was far off and only seemed to be a few dozen.

We also saw a few deer and some coyotes.  I guess the biggest plus was some of the wide open panoramas that we saw:

Here is our track for the day:

October 4 through Oct 8 in Kila, MT

Went for a stroll down the dirt road my brother lives on.  At first, I thought it was due to a fire but upon closer inspection, the tress have a type of parasite on them:

It seems to be some variety of Bryoria.  And, I found another parasite that looked interesting:

So I cracked out all my gear

and took this 2X macro (stack of 22 images)

We took a trip to Libby the next day (I think it was Thursday) and saw where they have an International chainsaw carving contest each year.  Here are a few samples:

And to finish up today's entry, is this little video I did yesterday:

I hope all is well with you and yours.

God bless

Made it to Kila, MT

We stopped for a bathroom break in Kalispell, MT and I grabbed a quick shot:

We made it to my brother’s house on Lake Rogers last night about 8 p.m.  We had a quick bite to eat and went to bed.  I woke up to this:

Lake Rogers pre-dawn with moon

We spent the day unloaded.  I tested out my MOFI AT&T “Hot Spot”.  It has good reception but the bandwidth is pretty bad.  Not sure what the deal is.

Woke up from a nap and my brother was feeding the deer

To be continued...

We made it to Sheridan, WY late last night.  It was dark.  Britt and Carrie both have eye problems so it was scary for them.  At the end, I was in the Subaru and Carrie started off the final leg driving the truck but then switched with Britt for the final city driving — about 15 minutes before we got to the Hampton Inn.

Gaia GPS Tracks for the trip up

I need to figure out how to paste the image of the track besides with just a screenshot.

Not much to tell so far… just lots of driving.  Today we hope to reach Britt and Carries house on the lake in Kila, MT.  We’ll see…

Made it to Colby, Kansas

My iPhone was dim so I restarted it and lost the track that Gaia GPS was making of our journey.  We left Richardson around 7:00 a.m.  Stopped at the Oklahoma tourist info rest stop briefly.  We stopped roughly every two hours to rest for a little bit.  Headed north to Salina and then west to Colby.  Not very eventful.  Stayed at the Hampton and got here about 7:20 p.m.

Went out for food and discovered Los Jarochos Mexican Food

32 reviews and all of them are 5 stars.  Its just a food trailer next to a Pizza Hut.

At one point we stopped at Costco for fuel.  Cesspools were across the street 😂

Heading North

It is now October 1st, 2021.  The house closed successfully yesterday.  All those fears are in the rear view mirror.   The 28th and 29th we unloaded almost everything and loaded fresh with new arrangement and many items from Britt’s house.  Here is how the truck, car, and trailers look now:

It is now 6:30.  The goal is to hit the road by 7:00.  Let’s see how this goes…

Tuesday, September 28, 2021

As of this date, my house has a contract that should close in two days (September 30, 2021).  I’m currently hassling the buyer to get proper insurance.  The contract for the house was signed in June but the buyer is an LLC so they wanted the usual 90 day evaluation period.  In the process, the 3rd party financing didn’t work out so they came back to the original owner financing that I had offered originally so the closing date is the 30th.  I’ve already signed my part of the papers.

Previously, back on Election Day, I had folks come in and get rid of Ring Tail Cats.  That started me to start cleaning out the attics.  I got them completely cleaned out in a few weeks.  And then starting in June, I slowly started clearing out the house.  I believe there was 5 trips to Goodwill with nothing but pictures, frames, and framing supplies.  Many trips to recycling.  Plus, of course, trips to a 10x10 storage.  The rest of my accumulated stuff I trashed.  Many items went to my son, Michael.  And other things are going to my brothers up in Montana.

We finally loaded up the wagons and drove from Leander to Richardson yesterday.  We had an F-250 with a 16’ trailer loaded with my John Deere Tractor and a Subaru with a 8’ trailer.

Got to Richardson around 4 p.m. yesterday.  Today we took a trip to see Britt’s lake house.  We currently plan to leave for Montana on Friday.
