Neighborhood Flowers

My car's tire blew out while sitting in the driveway on Friday. It will be fixed I hope tomorrow (Thursday) mostly due to the Memorial Day four day weekend. As a result it has the pretend spare tire which I don't feel safe driving on so I am stuck at home until its fixed. That leaves just the local neighborhood for me to terrorize and so I went after the flowers. Here are today's capture. Each of these is using the 200mm lens set to f/2.8 and a 50 to 100 image stack. They are untweaked after that.

Pretty Scissor-tail Flycatcher and a Black-crested Titmouse at Brushy Creek Lake Park

Not a particularly bountiful day plus I had one setting on my camera wrong so that fouled up some pictures. Here are the three keepers for the day.

Bewick's Wren, some flowers, and other critters today at Southwest Williamson County Regional Park

Merlin Bird Id said that this was Bewick's wren so that's what I went with. He flitted around and around and I never got a good clean shot but here are two keepers at least. This is the second time in a few weeks that I've come across a hummingbird sitting in a tree rather than buzzing around flowers. We have a dragonfly and a butterfly in the mix today as well as flowers that I've taken thousands of times but what the hell... they are pretty to look at.

Enjoy!

Trip to Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve

As I mentioned in my last post, I went to Corpus Christi for the Wings Over South Texas air show on Saturday. On Sunday, I got up and was looking for the closest state park. Apple Maps isn't very smart so it put up all the parks close by and literally down the street from the motel was Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve. I beieve it is owned by the city. It is just a relatively small piece of land but it has a lot of different habitats in the small area. The eastern edge is on Oso Bay that opens into Corpus Christi Bay. It has marshes, trees, and fields tall grass. There are structures that rise above the shrubs so that the Osprey fishing in the bay can be seen. It is just a really nice place to discover.

It appears I found and photographed eight birds that I've never photographed before and some that were not new. Enjoy!

Wings Over South Texas Air Show 2025

I got only three hours of sleep the night before so I brought minimal equpment and conserved my energy. I still got 76G of data, 700+ images, and 70+ videos. The best 26 still images are in this gallery.

The videos will take me a while to process and post. I'm not a videographer and I left the weight of the tripod in the car to conserve my energy. So, it will take a while to post them.

Antarctica 2007

A friend mentioned his favorite photograph he has seen from me and it was from my trip to Antarctica back in 2007. I discovered that I did not have a gallery on SmugMug for that trip. So here are a few shots as well as a link to a gallery of 60+ images from that trip.
